how did i not know about this?

considering i’ve made not one but two pilgrimages to boston purely to attend the Ig Nobels, how is it possible that there is something just as amazing right in my backyard?

New York hosts the World of Science Festival the last weekend of May. At a glance, I can’t wait for:

  • Alan Alda reading Feynman’s QED. I saw Alda play Feynman on Broadway a few years back, basically one man show for 3 hours on stage, I had front row tickets, and it was amazing.
  • A showing of The Bourne Identity with a discussion with a psychiatrist/neuroscientist.
  • Oliver Sacks in TWO sessions, one on vision and one on music.
  • Brain Tricks, a session pairing a neuroscientist with a magician.

and now i find how many are already sold out …. 😦

h/t the lovely new blog i’ve just found, twisted physics.
